This role is a part of our Specialty Claims Service Center Department where our customers expect exceptional claims handling. This Director and Officer/Employment Practices Liability Claim Examiner position will be based in our Simsbury, CT office.

The job responsibilities include the following:

• Deliver superior customer service and satisfaction through effective interactions with insureds, agents and legal counsel.
• Contribute to a collaborative environment by consistently demonstrating teamwork, high motivation, positive behavior and effort to achieve goals and objectives.
• Provide accurate and timely expense and loss assessments on director and officer and employment practices liability claims.
• Make decisions regarding payment amounts and claim settlements.
• Timely and appropriately communicate with internal and external customers relative to account trends, service issues and claim losses.
• Consistently demonstrate fundamentally sound claim handling by achieving compliance in the areas of investigation, coverage, loss assessment, and case management.
• Ensure the establishment, documentation, and execution of appropriate strategies to bring early resolution to assigned claims.
• Recognize and properly address coverage issues, follow guidelines relative to completion of reporting forms.
• Keep all files on a current diary system in order to timely monitor new developments, follow up on outstanding requests, update management, and respond to all other diary activities.

Chubb managers, claim examiners and defense counsel provide a combination of classroom and on-the-job training to ensure our Claim Examiners are prepared to assume full claim handling responsibilities. This training involves a wide range of knowledge and skill development, including:

• Cultivating relationships with internal and external clients
• Developing a working knowledge of federal and local employment laws
• Effectively investigating and evaluating coverage, liability and damages to set a an appropriate claim strategy, settlement value and file reserves
• Understanding Chubb Employment Practices Liability (EPL) and Directors and Officers (D&O) policies and endorsements to accurately make coverage decisions.
• Utilizing all Chubb systems and Best Practices in the claim handling process

Currently, Chubb is seeking a Customer Service Representative for its Western Processing Center located in Phoenix, AZ.

Position Responsibilities:

As a Western Processing Center (WPC) Customer Service Representative, you will be part of a diverse team accountable for processing customer accounts and contributing to the achievement of team, branch and corporate goals related to profit, growth, renewal, retention, rate, exposure, service and producer/client relations. The CSR receives account and policy-specific information from the Branch Underwriting Associate and prepares and performs rating, pricing, booking and issuance of new lines, renewals and endorsements according to workflow and procedures.

The CSR will review booking and issuance instructions prepared by the Underwriting Associate for required information such as commission percentage, payment plan, countersignature requirements and reimbursable deductible, will book and issue the policy and complete tracking information. Will be responsible for maintaining electronic documentation and achieve service and quality goals within the department. The position will interact with underwriting and operations departments in various locations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The ideal candidate should have the application of knowledge to lines of property and casualty business. You must also have exceptional customer service, interpersonal, communication, teamwork, organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while maintaining workload. Self-motivated, confident in decision making and judgment abilities. The individual must demonstrate the following competencies:

Mathematical aptitude
Strong PC skills including proficiency in Word and Excel
Strong knowledge of rating systems
Proficiency in on-line reference
Familiarity with ISO workers compensation bureaus and other regulatory agencies
Demonstrated track record of success in current and prior positions.

There are multiple positions available in the auto unit with a targeted start date of 4/9/12. All positions are located in the Phoenix office.

Education:

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Industry designations or coursework desirable.

Key Accountability
Responsible for profitable growth of assigned large, complex book of business. Underwrites new and renewal business within area of product, customer and/or industry expertise. Business supported in SRC generally includes accounts not eligible for ForeFront crossing all business segments (Financial Institutions).

Major Job Functions
• Utilizes appropriate tools to underwrite large, complex new and renewal business within area of product, customer and/or industry expertise. Conducts in-depth risk analysis and develops optimal program structure.
• Maintains underwriting quality standards. Includes appropriate documentation relating to final underwriting decision.
• Serves as point person for managing assigned SRC key account relationships and expectations. Maintains high visibility through proactive key account communication and visitation.
• Develops and executes effective strategies to generate profitable SRC key account business growth. Collaborates with Branch and CSI management on new business and retention opportunities.
• Analyzes opportunities and creates business development strategy for assigned book of business. Prospects for large, complex new business within specialty area. Includes driving SRC account rounding, cross-selling and alliance opportunities.
• Supports and collaborates on Branch sales and marketing initiatives. Includes assisting with new product launches and local marketing campaigns, as appropriate.
• Supports and collaborates on Branch agency management activities including agency analysis and planning, education, and visitation. As part of the Branch agency planning process, conducts analysis of agency’s SRC book of business and works with Branch CSI Manager to establish SRC new business goals.
• Collaborates with field in educating agents on products, services, automation, and underwriting standards as well as sales/marketing techniques. Participates in agent education events including CE courses and product fairs within area of underwriting expertise.
• For assigned SRC producers, manages SRC agency relationships and expectations. Leads/participates in SRC agency analysis and planning. Develops and executes on an effective agency strategy to grow the business.
• Informs manager of coverage and/or product opportunities/weaknesses impacting growth potential; gathers pertinent competitive information to assist in developing product development recommendations.
Critical Competencies
Underwriting Acumen: Demonstrates deep technical knowledge of Chubb products, competitors, customers and market place within dedicated area of expertise. Exhibits rigor and expertise in underwriting large, complex accounts within specialty area.
• Account Management: Demonstrated ability to build strong SRC key account relationships and manage customer expectations under changing market conditions. Proven track record in promoting business retention and growth.
• Deal-Making and Negotiation: Proven ability to find creative solutions that strike appropriate balance between insured and producer needs while adhering to company/ CSI underwriting standards. Comfortable walking away from the deal, if necessary.
• Sales and Marketing: Knowledge of Chubb products, competitors, customers, and marketplace within dedicated area of expertise. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective growth and retention strategies. Proven prospecting skills and effective use of CSI sales and marketing tools.
• Agency Management: Ability to build strong agency relationships and manage expectations under changing market conditions. Record of results in promoting business retention and growth.
• Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with multiple SBU, Branch and Home Office stakeholders. Demonstrates effective consultation and partnering skills.
• Communications: Demonstrated ability to differentiate the Chubb proposal by effectively articulating (verbally and in writing) CSI strategy, appetite and capabilities.
