Our Underwriting department is seeking an experienced statistician/econometrician to develop and estimate new models for the assessment of insurance risk, the setting of insurance rates, and other statistical topics related to insurance.
Ideal Qualities:
- 5+ years of Personal Auto Industry experience in pricing and/or underwriting
- Supervisory and/or project management experience combined with excellent organization skills
- Practical experience in developing and implementing multivariate predictive models using GLM and other analytical methods in a business setting
- Masters in economics, statistics, or related field, PhD a plus
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
- Self-starter and strong individual contributor with ability to provide intellectual guidance and mentoring to less experienced analysts
- High level of intellectual curiosity and creative problem solving skills in thinking about new approaches to data analysis
- Programming ability in SAS or other statistical modeling software
- Experience assembling and validating multiple sources of data
Key responsibilities
- Produce predictive models which enable the creation of rating plans and evaluation of risk
- Communicate to diverse audiences including technical and non-technical, senior management and junior staff
- Supervise and mentor a senior analyst
- Meet other research-oriented predictive modeling needs of the organization
