Mainframe IT Technical Analyst - COBOL Expertise Needed
at Chubb Insurance in New Jersey

The Enterprise Infrastructure Support & Services Team has an opening for a mainframe Technical Analyst. This position will support Chubb’s mainframe applications by installing tools, upgrading products and providing technical support. This person will act as a technical liaison between developers and the outsourcing staff to help plan and manage upgrades to core mainframe technologies. This person will also diagnose problems and look for opportunities to improve system efficiencies.
The position roles and responsibilities, include but are not limited to:
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting problems
• Participate in hardware and software upgrades and installs impacting assigned services/environments
• Plan and implement changes to improve service and/or the environment
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding technical support in assigned areas; respond to outages as a priority
• Work with Application Areas to implement new applications into the environments.
• Work with the Infrastructure Outsourcer to help ensure quality and on-time delivery of mainframe services.
• Work closely with the Project Management Office to drive the successful implementation of technology investments.
• Participate in project management practices that support the development life cycle including project plans, project proposal documents, project status communication, change management, etc.
• Schedule and participate in regular and follow-up meetings with account vendor.
• Ensure that IT investments are optimized, are aligned with business strategy, and deliver value within acceptable boundaries.

• Ability to change gears quickly in response to system problems and customer requests.
• Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to influence and collaborate with individuals of different backgrounds and views both inside and outside the Chubb family and environment.
• Desire to work with software vendors in installation and problem resolution.
• Creativity and resourcefulness to deal with new and complex challenges presented by changing business needs and increasingly sophisticated technology.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Responsiveness to service needs and operational demands.
• Ability to work independently with customer groups at all levels within the organization and learn new skills and technology.
• Background or understanding of programming and its functions.
• Expertise in JCL, CLISTS, VSAM and flat files, PDS library structure.
• Familiarity with COBOL compiles and link options, DB2, SQL, CICS, and IMS.
• Working knowledge of Chubb’s mainframe business applications and mainframe
system configuration and environment required.
