Currently, Chubb is seeking a Specialty Underwriting Associate for the Simsbury, CT office.
Entry Level Specialty Underwriting Associate contributes to the achievement of Specialty goals relating to policies, procedures, processing, growth, profit, renewal retention, customer service and producer relationships for various assigned customer groups with the expectation to be crossed trained in other areas of OSD.
The Specialty Underwriting Associate:
Key Competency Requirements:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Effective multi-tasking skills
• Ability to organize/prioritize work and perform within time constraints
• Mathematical aptitude
• Ability to process in applicable rating and issuance systems
• Ability to understand underwriting principles, policy coverages, key endorsements, rating/ pricing, and loss exposures
• Ability to work within a team
• Ability to identify changes in exposures for each risk
• Basic understanding of financial concepts and terminology
• Ability to follow standardized workflows and compliance requirements
• Proficiency in Word and Excel
Description of Role
• Verifying state regulations and licensing procedures
• Perform various administrative tasks for the assigned business units and all customer groups
• Assist SUAs in handling correspondence and broker requests
• Assist with the clearance and entry of new business submissions
• Proactively assists with account management and achievement of service goals.
• Communicates with underwriters on status of open items and open renewals.
• Ensures electronic file integrity.
• Processes cancellations, BORs, and researches and resolves premium discrepancies and compliance related issues.
• Processes renewal solicitation letters and incomplete letters for new business submissions.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
Desired work hours are 8:30-5:00
