Accounting Supervisor - P&C - Strong Financial Reporting Experience
at Chubb Insurance in New Jersey

Currently, Chubb is seeking an Accounting Supervisor for the Warren, NJ office.
Property & Casualty Accounting is responsible for meeting the regulatory financial reporting requirements promulgated by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and the state insurance departments for Chubb's domestic property and casualty insurance companies.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Supervises the preparation and analysis of the statutory financial statements for approximately five of Chubb's U.S. Property & Casualty Companies. This involves significant financial analysis in order to answer questions from management and various regulators.
• Works in conjunction with the staff to research the regulatory requirements for approximately 20 state insurance departments as well as various regulatory agencies that monitor Chubb's business in order to ensure that Chubb is in compliance.
• Provides the staff with technical expertise regarding specific questions, issues, or projects. Guides them in developing and implementing solutions/improvements and effectively removes obstacles.
• Initiates proposals to management regarding the improvement in the quality or efficiency of the department.
• Provides leadership, development, guidance and serves as a role model for the staff. Promotes excellence by enabling the staff to think creatively and work in an independent manner. Provides vision, direction and support.
• Establishes goals for staff members under their supervision. Coordinates development plans and performance reviews for staff members and provides ongoing feedback regarding performance.
• Actively participates in Section's training and development programs such as in-house training sessions.
• Responsible for responding to ad hoc requests for information, special projects and assisting in other tasks during each quarterly and annual close.
Competencies / Technical Skills:
• Minimum 3 years work experience in accounting. Prior insurance accounting andor supervisory experience a plus.
• Must be able to effectively manage and motivate staff.
• Strong accounting skills required.
• Requires strong analytical and communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to perform and/or supervise various activities concurrently.
• Ability to independently plan, manage and complete all aspects of assigned projects, delegating where appropriate.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of PeopleSoft general ledger functionality a plus.
Education Requirements -- Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a GPA of 3.0 or above - overall and in major.
