Underwriting Analyst

Training Class Starts June 2010!
Job Purpose:
Reviews Assigned Risk applications for completeness and basic underwriting eligibility, based upon the Workers Compensation Insurance Plan rules and Assigned Risk Supplement, for workers compensation coverage. Follows up with insurance agent as necessary to resolve all issues of eligibility and bind coverage. Applies standard class codes, assists carrier in issuing policy and determines and collects premiums. (Each state has an AR Plan.)
Major Duties:
Reviews applications for completeness and eligibility based upon the Workers Compensation Insurance Plan rules and Assigned Risk Supplement, and follows up with producers (agents) as necessary to obtain and/or clarify needed information. Applies standard class codes, and determines and collects premiums.
Responds to questions and issues from producers, assigned carriers, employers, and regulators.
Miscellaneous admin duties and receiving training.
Required Education, Experience & Skills:
Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent experience.
One to three years of analytical experience in commercial insurance, finance, banking, data systems or software applications is desirable.
Strong communication, both verbal and written.
Strong organizational and desk management skills.
Problem solving and analytical skills.
Basic computer skills including proficiency in MS Word.
Ability to multitask and work in a team environment.
Initial training consists of 6 weeks of classroom training and practice.
