Position Summary:
Work within a team of nine to provide all lines underwriting and administrative services to a self insured group made up of 1100+ clients utilizing independent local agents and a direct marketing approach to service this alternative risk sharing program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Primary responsibility to service existing book of property business and respond to service requests.
• Review and analyze new and renewal submissions. Underwrite, rate and apply program coverage as defined.
• Lead in assembling the specifications and negotiation of property reinsurance renewal terms .
• Lead cross-selling, marketing and assisting in generating new accounts.
• Participate in client meetings, field inspection surveys, regional seminars and annual conferences.
• Oversee policy issuance, inspections, endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements and invoices with team.
• Maintenance of coverage documents and manuscript endorsements as needed.
• Prepare Management Reports related to the Pools’ operation.
• Comply with notice requirements of excess insurers and reinsurers.
• Liaison with claims adjusting and loss prevention staff.
• Liaison with technology department on programming issues on proprietary software.
• Educate the participating agents on applicable forms.
• Conduct competitive analysis of insurer’s coverage forms.
• Maintain strong relationships with members, agents and reinsurers.
• Co-write Newsletter articles explaining coverage concepts and discussing timely property/insurance specific issues.
• Requires some overtime at various times of the year.
• Knowledge of Broker industry Professional Standards.
• Compliance with company and Department Procedures.
Qualifications:
• Requires a minimum of ten (10) years related Commercial Lines experience.
• Property & Casualty insurance license with Industry designation a plus (i.e. CPCU, CRM, CIC, ARM).
• Experienced in contractual review and ability to identify uncommon and unacceptable wording.
• Technical understanding of an insurance coverage document composition.
• Ability to effectively communicate with staff, client, member entities and their agents, through participation in written and oral presentations providing ongoing information and training.
• Working knowledge of information systems and good all around computer skills.
• Ability to multi-task, strategically plan, follow a course of action, and meet timelines.
• Good proofing and editing skills.
• Willingness to learn new ways of doing things and work in an attention to every detail environment.
• Understanding of industry Professional Standards
