Chubb Specialty Insurance, located in Simsbury, CT is looking to hire an underwriter in our fast-paced and growing Wholesale Department. The underwriter will be responsible for new business generation and growth of private commercial business in our Executive Protection division.
The position will be responsible for the marketing and new business production of PowerSource and Labor Management Trust business for large national wholesalers in the Western Territory. The primary focus of this position is fast and efficient triage of the new business submission flow along with effective producer management of the assigned brokers. This is a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual possessing a solid blend of marketing skills and technical underwriting proficiency.
Key underwriter accountabilities include:
• Gathering and analyzing information to determine risk acceptability and book management
• Book management and ownership of defined territory of Wholesale West brokers
• Producing meaningful financial results in terms of growth and profitability
• Travel to develop and maintain relationships with brokers in assigned territory.
Requisite skills and qualifications:
• Prior underwriting experience, preferably in specialty products.
• Strong customer service background.
• Effective negotiation skills and demonstrated ability to build/maintain productive broker relationships
• Strong analytical skills required with the proven ability to make expedient and sound decisions, as well as taking initiative and following through.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven track record of time management and efficiency, including organizing, multitasking, and prioritizing.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in team-oriented environment.
