Full-time Loss Control Consultant

Currently, we have an exciting career opportunity for a Loss Control Consultant in our Los Angeles, CA office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
-Surveys construction projects to identify and evaluate physical conditions, safety practices, hazardous situations and compliance with established safety standards.
-Analyzes history of accidents and claims, and prepares reports and recommendations as required.
-Analyzes project as a whole – schedule, loss history, upcoming activities, etc. and provides stimulus for proactive loss control efforts.
-Prepares reports from standardized templates in accordance with established deadlines.
-Participates in pre-bid, pre-construction, and progress meetings to foster proactive loss control efforts.
-Participates in accident investigations as required.
-Prepares written report (Loss Control Survey) of findings.
-May be required to provide technically sound recommendations for the correction of unsafe conditions.
-Assists clients with development and implementation of standardized Safety Programs.
-Interfaces with clients, carriers, contractors hired by our clients and other safety professionals to direct and improve effectiveness of safety compliance programs and to induce compliance with safety standards, codes and regulations.
-Develops and/or conducts safety training.
-Maintains comprehensive knowledge of protective equipment and existing and proposed changes in Federal and State industrial safety regulations.

SPECIAL SKILLS:
-Ability to teach OSHA 10 & 30-Hour Construction Outreach Training classes (requires completion of the OSHA 500 Course).
-Basic computer (Word, Excel, Lotus Notes) and office equipment skills.
-Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
-Able to receive/maintain state OSHA approval for Safety Coordinator position
-Ability to develop and conduct presentations for safety training purposes
-Ability to prepare administrative and technical reports.
-Bilingual skills (Spanish) desirable, but not required.
-Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
-Ability to interpret and apply Federal and State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
-Ability to function in a field environment (construction sites) that includes climbing, stooping, working at heights and walking long distances.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:
-High School Diploma (minimum);
-College degree desirable, but not required.
-Degree in Safety (A.S. or B. S.) desirable, but not required.
-Completion of additional safety training (verifiable via certificates, etc.) is desirable.

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
-Minimum of five years of verifiable progressive construction safety experience.
-State-Approved Safety Coordinator experience on a Wrap-Up Program
-Previous Safety Management experience for a construction contractor or construction manager desirable.
-Working knowledge of applicable regulations (Cal/OSHA / OSHA Construction Standards, NFPA, etc.)
-Valid Driver’s License required.
