Full-time Senior Technical Analyst-(Websphere/RAD)

Chubb Commercial IT has an opening for a Senior Technical Analyst (STA) that is primarily based in Warren, NJ, with possible travel to Simsbury, CT. This position will play a critical role in the strategic planning and implementation of new development solutions in addition to enhancements to existing solutions. Candidate must have strong, technical experience along with strong leadership skills.

Job Description:

This position requires a person who can lead assignments as a hands-on expert, providing technical and business expertise on the use of data; designing, developing, and implementing solutions that will meet the business need of this highly visible, strategically significant project. As a member of this team you will be participating in:
• Size/estimate and contribute to implementation planning, including resource assignments.
• Interact effectively with all players: business partners, business analysts, architects, developers, shared services teams, quality assurance specialists and management.
• Partner with Project Manager to insure timely and accurate communication of team’s progress/status/issues.
• Use analytical and problem solving skills to identify and remove implementation impediments.
• Understand and comply with architectural standards and designs, balancing the vision with timely delivery.
• Understand and satisfy the business needs, balancing the vision with timely delivery.
• Act as a technical team lead who works effectively with the team during all phases of the IT lifecycle.

Knowledge and Skills:
• Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills a must.
• Demonstrated technical leadership
• Strong technical experience required:
Java, JavaScript, J2EE, JSP, Rational Application Developer (RAD 7), Websphere application server (WAS), JUNIT, XML, web services, relational databases (i.e. DB2/UDB)
• Ability to oversee the technical specification and build phase and provide valuable input during architecture/design process
• Experience with insurance products and policy administrative systems
• Experience leading technical teams including consultants and vendors to accomplish the project goals.
• Ability to size/estimate development work and then plan for the execution of that work.
• Ability to assess strengths in resources to productively assign work and provide important development feedback
• Experience through entire development life cycle a must.
• Experience with business rules a plus.
• Experience working with Agile Development practices a plus
• Ability to manage stress while working in a constantly changing fast paced environment.
• Strong team emphasis and relationship building skills who partners well with business, non-Commercial IT areas, etc.
• Strong coaching/mentoring skills
