Full-time Personal Lines Appraisal Trainee – Entry Level for College Grads seeking a Career in Insurance!

The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies is currently seeking candidates for a Personal Lines Appraisal Trainee position in our Washington, DC office.

A variety of training managers and technical specialists will work with the Personal Lines Appraisal Trainee to:
• Cultivate relationships with clients in order to learn more about their needs, as well as to effectively market Chubb products and to sell the appraisal process as a demonstration of Chubb’s commitment to superior service.
• Visit with clients in their homes to discuss insurance requirement, determine replacement costs and to evaluate adequacy of alarm systems.
• Create risk assessment reports for use by underwriters, agents and clients.
• Identify the need for additional insurance coverage based on the clients’ possessions and lifestyle.

The training process will be a combination of branch orientation, formalized class training and on the job training supplemented by seminars and insurance industry courses.

Required Competencies and Technical Skills:
• Four year college degree is required.
• The candidate must demonstrate the ability to interact with a wide variety of people and have an interest in construction, real estate, fine arts and/or architecture.
• An aptitude for evaluating, analyzing and interpreting information is essential.
• Proficiency in expressing ideas well in verbal and written communication is a must.
• The candidate should be able to work independently and have effective time/desk management and organizational skills in order to meet deadlines.
• An aptitude to navigate computer systems and communicate by way of internet and email is necessary.

It is critical that the candidate be able to adapt to new ideas and changing situations.

Relocation Requirement:
Our trainee program requires the willingness to travel overnight, as well as the willingness to relocate within the first year. The trainee will be hired in the Washington, DC Office, however, we cannot predict today where the business need will be when the training program is complete. Within approximately one year, you will be placed as a Personal Lines Appraiser in one of our Eastern Territory branches.

This trainee position is for 2011.
