Commercial Underwriting Associate

Currently, Chubb is seeking a Commercial Underwriting Associate for its Seattle, WA location.
As a Commercial Underwriting Associate you are accountable for:
• Collaborating with team members to achieve growth, profit, renewal retention, service and producer/client management goals for the Chubb Commercial Insurance Division in the Seattle territory on assigned book of commercial package business consisting of approximately $8,000,000.
• Gathering and analyzing account information (loss information, driver information, financial, loss control reports, etc.) and developing underwriting recommendations and pricing strategy.
• Completing, documenting and referring risk reports to underwriter.
• Handling individual risk inquiries from brokers/agents.
• Coordinating account processing for renewals and new accounts with underwriter and customer service representative.
• Providing rating and issuance instructions including appropriate forms, coverages, and final premium.
• Reviewing submission information with underwriter and preparing quote letter.
• Documenting underwriting analysis information in the electronic file; ensuring electronic file integrity.
• Processing endorsements within designated authority.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and to independently prioritize competing demands /requests within given time constraints.
• Must demonstrate strong analytical skills and mathematical aptitude.
• Knowledge of underwriting principles, product-specific coverage, policy forms, pricing tools, regulatory compliance and insurance systems.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using on-line reference manuals.
• Familiarity with ISO workers compensation bureaus and other state regulatory agencies within assigned territory.
• Ability to recognize exposure to a loss.
• Ability to effectively and regularly use multiple electronic systems.
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
• Successful candidate will be placed into an Underwriting Associate level based on experience and demonstrated skills.
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred. Commercial Package underwriting experience or underwriting assistant experience required.
