Experienced Underwriting Associate – Knowledge of Property & Marine Preferred

Currently, Chubb is seeking a Property, Machine and Marine Underwriting Associate to work in our Kansas City Branch.
As a Property, Machinery, & Marine Underwriting Associate you are accountable for:
• Collaborating with team members and producers to achieve growth, profit, renewal retention, service and producer/client management goals for the Property, Machinery, & Marine book of commercial business.
• Gathering and analyzing account information (loss information, financials, loss control reports, etc.) and developing underwriting recommendations and pricing strategy.
• Completing, documenting and referring risk reports to underwriter.
• Handling individual risk inquiries from brokers/agents.
• Coordinating account processing for renewals and new accounts with underwriter and customer service representative.
• Providing rating and issuance instructions including appropriate forms, coverages, and final premium.
• Reviewing submission information with underwriter and preparing quote letter.
• Documenting underwriting analysis information in the electronic file; ensuring electronic file integrity.
• Binding coverage and/or processing endorsements within designated underwriting authority.
• Being cross trained on CIS (Commercial Insurance Specialty) and eventually handling a small part of CIS business.
• Mentoring developing Underwriting Associates.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and to independently prioritize competing demands /requests within given time constraints.
• Advanced knowledge of product-specific coverage, policy forms, pricing tools, regulatory compliance and Chubb systems.
• Ability to independently accept, modify or reject risks based on analysis of underwriting information.
• Ability to gather and organize large amounts of information.
• Recommends and implements solutions to process challenges.
• Demonstrates solid knowledge of Chubb's local business strategy, value-added services, markets and products.
• Demonstrated ability to coach others.
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
