PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To supervise and develop a team of case managers; to review claims and provide feedback and development to case managers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Identifies training needs and trains administrative staff.
2. Provides day-to-day supervision of the claims operations ensuring client expectations, jurisdictional regulations and plan requirement standards are satisfactorily met.
3. Ensures compliance with service guidelines, client instructions and Colleague Resources policies and procedures by reviewing individual claims and providing feedback and development to case managers.
4. Intervenes in difficult calls or questions.
5. Acts as liaison between union representatives and case management when assigned task by management.
6. Aids in monitoring and providing statistical information reports for client as assigned.
7. Assists in managing daily unit workflow.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Performs other duties as assigned.
2. Maintains a quality assurance program to support the total performance management initiative and the consistent delivery of quality claims service.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Administers company personnel policies in all areas and follows company staffing standards and training recommendations.
2. Interviews, hires and establishes colleague performance development plans; conducts colleague performance discussions.
3. Provides support, guidance, leadership and motivation to promote maximum performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
BS/BA degree or equivalent preferred. Licenses as required. Each year of experience beyond the requirement equates to one (1) year of post secondary education.
Experience
Five (5) years of related experience required. Supervisory experience preferred. AS/AA degree may be substituted for one (1) year of experience; BS/BA degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience; MS/MA degree may be substituted for three (3) years of experience.
Skills & Knowledge
- Good technical knowledge of claims management
- Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
- Leadership/management/motivational skills
- Analytical and interpretive skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
WORK ENVIRONMENT
When applicable and appropriate, consideration will be given to reasonable accommodations.
