Senior Programmer Analyst

This position is responsible for implementation & maintenance of key BI / Datawarehousing technology solutions. To be
considered, candidates must have strong hands on experience in BI (Cognos) & ETL (Informatica) design and
development.
Responsibilities
• Translate complex business and functional requests into program/applications that meet business requirements.
• Participate on Technology project teams; effectively interact with business partners and other key stakeholders in a highly matrix environment
• Work with end users to assist them in defining reports, creating reports, and ad hoc queries
• Develop and maintain Framework Manager Models and apply proper securities and publishing packages
• Responsible for providing a complete range of BI capabilities: reporting, analysis, score carding, dashboards and SDK
• Works independently to design develop and implement new solutions and/or changes to existing systems.
• Evaluate ETL requirements and implement them using Informatica
• Maintain and update Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) processes.
• Develop and execute test scenarios and test cases for unit, integration and systems testing
• Ensure compliance with all software and infrastructure standards within Chubb.
• Adhere to project management methodology and standards applicable to assigned work
• Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient and cost effective solution for the systems design.
• Comply with architectural standards; re-use existing software structures where applicable
• Take the lead on assignments and mentor/provide guidance to junior staff members
Skills:
• Minimum of 6 - 7 years of application development experience
• Excellent understanding of ETL & BI concepts
• 3 to 5 years of hands on experience with Cognos 8 / 10 suite of products : report studio, query studio, transformer, powerplay, framework manager
• 1 to 3 years of hands on experience with ETL development using Informatica PowerCenter or other similar ETL tools
• Solid Experience using relational databases and writing SQL queries
• Ability to understand complex database structures including views and table joins
• Experience with Shell scripting
• Well versed with SDLC and various PM methodologies including estimation, delivery, risk management and issue management.
• Strong communication skills, confidence, analytical abilities and the ability to bring tasks from start-up to completion with little or no oversight
• Experience with Trillium & Salesforce.com a plus
• DB2 / UDB experience desired.
• Insurance Industry experience desired.
