Property & Casualty Risk Engineer – CSP or ARM Strongly Preferred

Currently, Chubb is recruiting for a Property & Casualty Risk Engineer for the Northern California Branch, located in San Ramon.
Job Requirements:
The PCRE will provide risk improvement consultation to commercial customers to positively impact the customer's loss ratio and deliver value that influences the insurance buying decision. The primary focus of this position will be the successful execution of consultative based servicing and risk engineering services to clients. In addition, on-site visits of existing and prospective customers will be conducted and comprehensive reports will be completed that evaluate hazards and controls for adequate risk selection, pricing, and application of underwriting techniques leading to profitable growth. The territory encompasses Northern California, with emphasis in San Francisco, Central Valley, the East Bay, and San Jose to Napa Valley. Position may require overnight travel to complete surveys in the outer territories.
Day to day activities include scheduling visitation, the processing of client correspondence and inquiries, report completion and recommendation follow-up as necessary, training of less experienced staff (both loss control and underwriting), as well as coordination with claims and underwriting partners to insure consistent satisfactory risk selection, retention and exceeding service expectations. This position reports to the Area Loss Control Manager.
Technical Skills:
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5-7 years progressive experience in worker's compensation, casualty and property insurance risk control and loss prevention functions, primarily focused on evaluating hazards and controls. This position is responsible for counseling existing commercial insurance customers in risk improvement. Candidate must have a sound proficiency in property and casualty loss control skills, with an emphasis on Property & Worker's Compensation.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Candidate should possess a comprehensive understanding of the following areas: Coverages including property construction ( fire pump test knowledge desirable), protection and exposures, business interruption exposures and controls, product liability exposures and controls, workers' compensation - industrial hygiene exposures and controls, commercial vehicle exposures and controls, interview techniques and technical report writing.
Candidate needs to have excellent communication skills (both written and oral). Initiative, effective time management and ability to function both independently and as an integral member of the client service team are essential core competencies. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat required, a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint preferred.
Education:
Four-year college degree with major in sciences or engineering preferred. Possessing relevant professional designations or certifications such as CSP or ARM is highly desirable.
