POSITION DESCRIPTION



Insurance Agent - Property and Casualty



Personal Lines - Brazoria County, TX



Position Summary

· Performs services and provides support for current and prospective clients in the selection of Personal Lines Insurance Products.

· Responsible for prospecting, soliciting, quoting and selling new personal lines property and casualty insurance to clients and provides insurance coverage to fit their specific needs.

· Counsels and develops relationships with existing clients and in the community professionally.

· Performs all other duties as assigned.

· Implements and performs according to established standards.



1. Sales and Service

· Establishes contact with members / clients by telephone, e-mail, or face to face to discuss their current insurance status and determine an insurance program to fit their specific need.

· Make sales presentations to new and existing clients.



2. Insurance Administration

· Completes the application forms for property, casualty or other insurance products, and submits the application to an appropriate insurance carrier for price quotation.

· Creates and maintains member/client files and records to comply with the requirements of Texas Department of Insurance, the Agency and appointed carriers or partners.

· Prepares and sends invoices for new or endorsed policies.

· Collects premiums due to insurance agency.

· Maintains adequate knowledge of rating procedures, coverages, and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain and write assigned client and prospect lists.



3. Monitoring

· Reviews and analyzes all policies and endorsements received from insurance carriers for accuracy.

· Confirms client is receiving coverage as ordered.

· Meets sales production goals as assigned.



4. Community Relations

Actively participates in community relations and groups to represent the Agency.

Stays abreast of changes in industry services or procedures.



Minimum Qualifications:

(Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)



1. Education

· Specialized training, two year degree, technical or vocational certification or equivalent mix of education and experience is required.

· Prefer Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) insurance designations.

· Bachelor or four year degree in business, finance, marketing or other related area is preferred.

· Requires General Lines Property & Casualty Insurance license.



2. Experience

· Position requires four or more years of property and casualty insurance experience.

· Commercial lines experience is a plus.



3. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Ability to read, write and understand English both verbally and in writing.

· Basic to intermediate knowledge of typing, computers, computer software, word processing, spreadsheets.

· Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

· Requires accuracy in checking, counting, posting and proofing.

· Working knowledge of agency software (AMS360) is preferred.
