Claims Examiner IV (D&O or EPL preferred)

Our award winning Claims Department has an exciting career opportunity for an individual who enjoys independent problem solving and utilization of their interpersonal and collaboration skills to build relationships with insureds, defense counsel, claimants and producers. This Northeast Zone Specialty Claims examiner position handling employment practices / director and officer claims will be based in our Simsbury, CT office.
The job responsibilities include the following:
• Deliver superior customer service and satisfaction through effective interactions with insureds, agents and legal counsel.
• Contribute to a collaborative environment by consistently demonstrating teamwork, high motivation, positive behavior and effort to achieve goals and objectives.
• Provide accurate and timely expense and loss assessments on director and officer, employment practices and executive healthcare liability claims.
• Make decisions regarding payment amounts and claim settlements.
• Timely and appropriately communicate with internal and external customers relative to account trends, service issues and claim losses.
• Consistently demonstrate fundamentally sound claim handling by achieving compliance in the areas of investigation, coverage, loss assessment, and case management.
• Ensure the establishment, documentation, and execution of appropriate strategies to bring early resolution to assigned claims.
• Recognize and properly address coverage issues, potential fraud, and subrogation; follow guidelines relative to completion of reporting forms.
• Keep all files on a current diary system in order to timely monitor new developments, follow up on outstanding requests, update management, and respond to all other diary activities.
Chubb managers will provide a combination of classroom and on-the-job training to ensure our Claim Trainees are successfully prepared to eventually assume full claim handling responsibilities. This training will involve a wide range of knowledge and skill development, including:
• Cultivating relationships with internal clients (e.g., Underwriters).
• Developing the ability to analyze initial claim reports.
• Understanding how to effectively investigate and document findings.
• Understanding Chubb products to appropriately determine coverage.
• Learning to interpret and apply insurance contracts.
• Learning how to negotiate and structure settlements.
Competencies/Skills Required:
The successful candidate will possess the following qualities:
• A personal commitment to superior performance that adds value to our company.
• An ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people.
• An aptitude for evaluating, analyzing and interpreting information.
• A willingness to use creative thinking to overcome obstacles as well as the ability to adapt to new ideas and situations.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education & Experience:
College degree required. Prior insurance claims background required. 2-4 years work experience preferably handling Employment, Director and Officer and/or Executive Healthcare claims.
