Currently, Chubb is seeking an Underwriting Associate for our Affiliate Managers Branch in the Whitehouse Station, NJ office.
Position Description:
The Underwriting Associate will contribute to the achievement of the Affiliate Managers Branch goals as well as corporate goals relating to growth, profit, renewal retention, service and producer/client management. The Branch is responsible for commercial U.S. policies which are part of an overall account managed on behalf of Chubb Affiliates.
Job Duties will include:
• Gathers and analyzes account-specific information (including but not limited to loss information, exposures, financial, loss control reports) and prepares risk report for referral to the Underwriter
• Corresponds with both local U.S. producers and Affiliate underwriters to compile necessary information
• Coordinates the new line and renewal process and develops information and recommendations, based on the account analysis that will be used as the basis for the underwriting strategy
• Determines pricing strategy in conjunction with underwriter
• Handles all coordination of accounts being sent to the Processing Center and completes all issuance instructions including appropriate forms, coverage and final premium
• Ensures electronic file integrity
• Ensure internal and external service standards are met to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction
• May include renewal-underwriting authority
Competencies/Technical Skills:
Duties require the application of technical knowledge to diverse situations and action taken as a result of judgment. The selected candidate must have strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.
In addition, the individual must demonstrate:
• Mathematical aptitude
• Knowledge of underwriting principles
• Knowledge of policy forms
• Knowledge of rating, underwriting and rate/rule manuals
• Ability to Recognize exposure to loss
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to organize work and perform within time constraints
• Strong written, verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in on-line reference manuals, familiarity with ISO work comp bureaus and other regulatory agencies as appropriate to states
• Prior insurance industry experience is required.
