Skilled Claim Examiner with Strong D&O Knowledge – 5+ Years Exp Needed
at Chubb in New Jersey

Our award winning Claims Department has an exciting career opportunity for an individual who enjoys independent problem solving and utilization of their interpersonal and collaboration skills to build relationships with insureds, defense counsel, claimants and producers. This Director and Officer Examiner position can be housed out of our Warren, New Jersey or New York City office.
Position Responsibilities:
• Manage mid-complexity Specialty claims across multiple jurisdictions
• Analyze and address coverage issues timely and accurately under multiple policy contracts, such as Directors and Officers, Fiduciary, Employment Practices, Errors and Omissions, etc.
• Conduct timely and effective investigations through effective use of internal and external resources that are in compliance with all Best Practices protocols.
• Effectively document all relevant events in a timely and efficient manner as case facts are developed, including evaluation of liability, damages and exposure under insurance contracts
• Timely and accurately create and manage indemnity and expense reserves and maintain reserves throughout the life cycle of all files with appropriate documentation supporting any reserve changes.
• Create and conduct effective resolution and negotiation strategies; consider and pursue all appropriate collateral sources.
• Manage defense counsel through effective use of litigation management strategies, including developing a specific claim strategy and defense strategy that directs accountability of counsel throughout the life cycle of all files.
• Proactively manage a claim inventory of approximately 90+ files
• Present cases and share expertise through the claim committee process.
• Adhere to all statutory regulations and Unfair Claims Practices Acts
Competencies required for position:
• Articulate in both written and oral communication
• Working knowledge of employment laws, ERISA, securities laws, mortgage and lending practices, and breach of contract issues
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high caliber customer claim service
• Strong listening and negotiation skills
• Advanced knowledge and attention to detail in insurance coverage and contracts, investigating mid-level to severe claims, as well as setting timely and accurate reserves
• Advanced organizational skills to manage own claim inventory under limited supervision
• The ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships with a wide spectrum of people internally and externally.
• Regularly share expertise and provides constructive feedback in a team environment.
• Some travel may be required
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree is required
• 5 + years claims handling experience, including some level of Specialty claims experience
