Underwriting Analyst

Job Purpose:
To provide timely and quality customer support of NCCI’s products, services, and guidelines in conjunction with the approved regulatory rules. Responds to customer inquiries daily, online, e-mail, or over the phone.
Position salary: $34,000 (+7% Annual Incentive Compensation)
Major Duties:
·Analyzes data using multiple internal databases and external sources to make decisions on eligibility and properly classify an employer’s business based on Workers Compensation Insurance Plan rules, Basic Manual rules and departmental procedures. Uses analytical skills to review assigned risk workers compensation applications for completeness and eligibility. Communicates frequently with external customers, such as insurance agents and employers, to obtain information needed to accurately complete the application and bind coverage through the Plan. Will collect appropriate deposit premium as required. Meets or exceeds established department metrics (e.g. quality, timeliness and productivity).
·Uses analytical skills to problem solve and interpret manual rules for employers, agents, carriers and regulators. Responds to questions and issues regarding Workers Compensation Insurance Plan rules, Basic Manual rules and application processing over the phone or online.
·Participates in department projects, initiatives, and training. Contributes to the online Assigned Risk Procedures Manual.
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
·Associates Degree and a minimum of four years of analytical and customer service experience in the field of insurance, finance, banking, or an industry with transferrable skills. (Minimum requirements can be met by a candidate having a higher degree or comparable experience.)

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
- General understanding of worker’s compensation insurance
- Completion of an Insurance Education course or certification that demonstrates an understanding of insurance
- Bachelor’s degree
