Currently, Chubb is seeking a Bilingual Surety Underwriter for the Warren, NJ office.
Position Description:
Operating within the Surety Division Home Office platform, work with our Latin American branches in support of the dual underwriting framework and provide assistance to branches worldwide. The Surety Underwriter is responsible for meeting or exceeding the goals established for profit, service, and relationship management with branches, producers, customers, fronting companies and other Chubb departments. Demonstrate enthusiasm and initiative in making independent decisions. Act as a resource and display leadership qualities during interactions with fellow staff members. The position includes a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to analyzing financial statements and contracts, maintaining and servicing existing accounts, developing relationships with fronting companies, and assisting with the placement of bonds internationally.
Surety Underwriters have underwriting as well as marketing responsibilities on an assigned book of business. The underwriting responsibilities include reviewing and evaluating financial information and contract documents, forming an opinion and making recommendations based on that information. The position may include future marketing responsibilities such as maintaining and servicing existing accounts, developing new relationships, and visiting with customers and agents
While on the job, the Surety Underwriter will participate in our surety training program. In the training program, the Surety Underwriter will learn the fundamentals of the surety business, acquire an understanding of Chubb Surety’s underwriting philosophy and analytical tools, develop financial acumen, learn about the Surety department, and expand business and communication skills.
Competencies/Tech Skills:
• College Degree (financial or accounting course work desirable)
• Self-starter, confident and proactive.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Fluency in Spanish, both written and verbal. (Addition of Portuguese is a plus)
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Strong financial background (banking, financial services or construction)
• Ability to understand and articulate complex financial and business issues
• Prior Surety or Credit Analyst experience with a large financial institution a plus
