Casualty Claim Examiner – 3+ Years of Exp – Strong Knowledge of Litigation Process

Currently, Chubb is seeking a Casualty Claim Examiner for our New Haven, Connecticut Office.
Position Responsibilities:
• Manage claims across multiple jurisdictions
• Analyze and address coverage issues timely and accurately under multiple policy contracts.
• Use knowledge of claim investigations, litigation, insurance contracts and industry trends to make appropriate reserve recommendations on cases.
• Promptly and properly develop the facts of a claim through a comprehensive investigation, accurate fact based documentation and prompt contact with all knowledgeable parties.
• Maintain well documented and articulate file notes able to be read and understood by not only claims but also underwriters, agents and customers.
• Evaluate complex damages, liability exposures as well as set accurate and timely reserves.
• Direct and control the litigation management process and expenses.
• Proactively manage a claim inventory and effectively negotiate cases to an acceptable resolution under moderate supervision.
• Present cases and regularly share expertise through the claim committee process as well as customer claim review meetings.
• Collaborate and interact with peers and all business units in support of strong team results.
• Recognize potential fraud and third party contribution issues and handle as appropriate.
• Knowledge of Life Science and EPL exposures is a positive.
• Adhere to all statutory regulations and Unfair Claims Practices Acts
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Articulate in both written and oral communication
• Advanced knowledge of computer systems to include Microsoft office package; word, excel PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high caliber customer claim service
• Advanced listening and negotiation skills
• Advanced presentation skills
• Advanced knowledge of litigation processes
• Advanced knowledge and attention to detail in insurance coverage and contracts, in investigating moderate to severe complex claims, as well as setting timely and accurate reserves
• Knowledge and application of Best Practices
• Advanced in organizational skills to manage own claim inventory under moderate supervision
• The ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships with a wide spectrum of people internally and externally.
• Regularly shares expertise and provides constructive feedback in a team environment.
• Must obtain and maintain necessary licenses in all New England States.
• CPCU and/or AEI designation a plus
• Some travel may be required
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in Claim handling
