Senior Programmer Analyst

Currently, Chubb is seeking a Senior Programmer Analyst for our Warren, NJ office.
Chubb Specialty Insurance has an opening for a Senior Programmer Analyst (SPA) that is primarily based in Warren, NJ. This position is responsible for implementation of strategic technology solutions, as well as maintenance and enhancements to the Salesforce.com platform. To be considered, candidates must have strong experience in ETL (using Informatica PowerCenter) design and development. In addition, candidate may be required to travel to various locations, including Simsbury, CT to work with other team members.
Job Description:
Works independently to design develop and implement new programs and/or changes to existing systems. Evaluate complex business partner requirements and processes. From these requirements, the SPA must have the ability to design and implement complicated technology solutions. Must be able to execute and maintain standard corporate practices for operational software process.
The position currently includes the following assignments:
• Translate more complex business and functional requests into program/applications that meet business requirements.
• Participate on Technology project teams; effectively interact with business partners, Business Analysts, Architecture office, Shared services teams, Quality Assurance specialists and management
• Design, code, test and implement application programs for both new and existing web based applications. Writes new programs of significant complexity and scope.
• Develop and execute test scenarios and test cases for unit, integration and systems testing
• Contribute to defining timelines and project plans; analyzes and estimates feasibility, effort, time and compatibility
• Monitor operating efficiency of existing systems. Serves as subject matter expert with various tools, techniques and processes.
• Ensure compliance with all software and infrastructure standards within Chubb.
• Adhere to project management methodology and standards applicable to assigned work
• Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient and cost effective solution for the systems design.
• Comply with architectural standards; re-use existing software structures where applicable
• Prepare charts, tables, diagrams and detailed technical specifications for system solutions.
• Take the lead on assignments and mentor/provide guidance to junior staff members
Skills:
• Minimum of 7 years of application development experience
• 3 to 5 years experience with ETL development using Informatica PowerCenter
• 3 to 5 years experience using relational databases and writing SQL queries
• Knowledge of Unix operating system and FTP
• Salesforce.com experience is strongly desired
• DB2 / UDB experience a plus.
• Experience in performance tuning Informatica code with very large data volumes is a plus
• Experience with Shell scripting a plus
• Experience with Shell scripting a plus.
• Knowledge and experience working on technology projects using a system development life cycle
• Experience working with the SCRUM and/or XP Agile Development practices is a plus
• Confident and competent working in a fast paced environment that requires time delivery
• Demonstrated technical leadership; innovative and creative
• Strong accountability for own work as well as the work of teams
• Strong testing skills
• Strong communication skills, confidence, analytical abilities and the ability to bring tasks from start-up to completion with little or no oversight
• Experience working with business partners to identify and implement systems that are based on extremely complex business requirements and processes for diverse development platforms
• Ability to work in a matrixed management environment
Education:
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
