Transportation Underwriter
at Interstate Insurance Management Inc. in Virginia
This opportunity is a "work from home" position.
The Production Underwriter will be involved with varied activities that promote the achievement of the primary goal: the successful growth of a book of transportation insurance business.
Key activity areas are:
•Marketing to retail producers; both existing customers as well as developing new sources of production.
•Managing the group of producers to achieve the company goals for the assigned territory.
•Production of new accounts for the carriers represented by the agency.
•Underwriting submissions, validating the data and assuring compliance with guidelines.
Qualifications
•An analytical mindset that promotes sound decisions and problem solving.
•This is a remote office position and requires an individual that is capable of independent action, is self motivating and will thrive on the ability to self direct daily activities.
•Previous background with truck insurance is desired: retail producer, GA producer or company experience.
•Communication skills appropriate for the position including both written and in person presentations with the ability to close the deal.
•The ability to multi-task and prioritize.
•Familiarity with business software.
Regularly performed functions
•Actively promote the agency’s products to new and existing customers to generate qualified new business submissions. Phone calls, written correspondence and personal visits.
•Establish and maintain strong working relationship with carrier underwriters, communicating frequently to obtain best possible terms and pricing.
•Review and price commercial auto submissions: analyze and interpret information such as applications, loss runs, motor vehicle reports, and related data as required.
•Educate and negotiate with retail producers on specific features of the programs you offer quotes for. Sell beyond price.
•Monitor performance of the retail producer group and provide feedback to them and Agency Management relative to goal achievement.
