Aon Hewitt is currently seeking a Health and Benefits Analyst to join their team. The position could be located in New York office.

POSITION SUMMARY:
To assist account managers and consultants on assigned accounts and to manage key assignments for clients as assigned. To provide consultative and technical support to consulting staff in managing client projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Primary responsibilities of this position to include: Growth and maintenance of Aon Consulting’s business by providing administrative and consultative support to account managers and consulting staff on client work relating to benefit plan review, design & strategy. In addition, provide assistance to account manager in such areas as marketing support, legal compliance, client service issues, and interaction with carriers.

Possess a basic understanding of the H&B practice, and participates as needed on task forces and special project teams. Possess H&B expertise that is recognized by colleagues and clients.

Specific areas of expertise needed for this position include but are not limited to (the following items will need to be tailored to specific position; could include such things as): RFP review & preparation; Summary Plan Descriptions and contract compliance; Analysis of utilization reports, carrier reports, and claims data & trends; COBRA, HIPAA, 5500’s issues; Contract review and benefit comparisons; Customer service & client communications; Custom & ad hoc reporting; Proposal & report preparation and presentation; Claims issues & administrative problems; Carrier/client relations; Assist consulting team with client proposals, presentations, management reporting, and overall peer review of all work. Also, will provide a high level of a client service support and liaison with carriers. Interacts effectively with Aon Consulting team and client managers and works to understand clients’ objectives and concerns.

Manages client open items list and responds to client requests and ad-hoc reporting requests as needed. Maintenance of client information, (electronic) files, and carrier data.

When applicable, may also need to work directly with client team to ensure that all work is performed effectively and correctly. May need to serve as primary contact for client in client manager’s absence. Possesses a basic understanding of financial measures and Aon financial products.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
-1-3 yrs. Group H&B Benefits experience, ideally with emphasis on financial matters (either in brokerage/consulting firm or comparable carrier experience).
-Client Service Orientation; Ideal candidate would have worked at an health insurance company in an account management role.
-Develops and maintains an understanding of client needs and expectations;
-Responds quickly to client and colleague requests and works to provide timely and accurate information and documentation; Works with a high level of interest, energy and enthusiasm to meet or exceeds client expectations.
-Business Communication Ability to give non-technical explanations to technical matters;
-Prepares and presentation of clear, accurate & concise reports.
-Teamwork and Resource Management Understands and values all roles and functions needed in order to complete client projects and provide on-going service; Communicates and works well with colleagues at all levels and is viewed as a team player;
Ethical Behavior Adheres to professional standards and ethics in one’s field and demonstrates the highest level of integrity and honesty in all interactions;
-Is open and honest in communications with others and takes responsibility for own mistakes or customer service problems.
-Analytical Thinking Systematically tests and probes in order to eliminate potential problems.
-Is able to gain an accurate understanding of all the facts and the situation and quickly recognize when more information is needed.
-Project Management Establishes priorities for multiple tasks/projects based on timeliness, importance, and urgency of project completion.
-Ensures that all work obstacles are addressed so as to minimize wasted time and is able to reprioritize projects as required. Accepts the delegation of responsibilities from management team so as to ensure accurate and timely delivery of client materials.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
-Bachelor’s degree (Insurance or Risk Management/Business degree preferred) or equivalent work experience.
-License or Certificate
-Appropriate Insurance License/Life and Health
