Sr. Product Manager
at Plymouth Rock Assurance in Massachusetts

We’re looking for a Sr. Product Manager to function at both the strategic and operational level in order to grow and develop our Connecticut and New Hampshire markets. Reporting to the Vice President of Product Management, this position will focus on the profitability (loss ratio) and competitiveness (issue rate) of our core products: CT auto, NH auto and home, and CT/NH personal umbrella product.
The candidate will be a creative project leader, strategic analyst, and an internal consultant on business issues related to our core CT/NH products.
The Product Manager’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following product management responsibilities:
• Reviewing and accepting loss indications from actuarial
• Keeping abreast of changes in regulatory environment and determining impact on our product set and business processes
• Gathering anecdotal market feedback from agents and marketing reps
• Monitoring competitor product and rate changes
• Maintaining a leading edge analytical toolset to measure and analyze loss ratio, competiveness, and growth
• Performing bi-annual rate reviews
• Defining all new product requirements and corresponding changes to our operational systems
• Overseeing the business team’s technology development lifecycle responsibilities such as requirements, use cases, user acceptance testing, production verification and sign-off
• Managing all DOI communications and rate/product filings
• Presenting our product strategy at our regular agency meetings and regularly participating in our Agency Advisory meetings
• Leading and supervising a team of 2-3 product analysts
• Continually reviewing and analyzing our profitability and competitiveness relative to our business plans and making recommendations for improvement
• Aligning our product evolution with enterprise product initiatives and principles
The candidate will also be responsible for providing support of distribution, customer service, and underwriting analysis leading to the minimization of loss ratio and expense while growing premium.
The ability to utilize statistical and theoretical approaches to generate sound business analyses and recommendations is a must.
The candidate must be able to work and think independently and be willing to work through business issues in a group structure; promoting constructive dialogue and reaching consensus. The candidate will need to possess the skills to follow through with the project’s implementation and monitor its results. The position requires that the candidate take a proactive role in furthering his/her technical and functional knowledge.
Requirements:
• BA/BS with 5+ years of financial services or insurance business experience which includes at least 3 years of personal lines product management experience
• 3 years profit/loss responsibility.
• Ability to make decisions based upon analysis and synthesis of non-obvious relationships from often-conflicting data, including the ability to innovate when confronted by ambiguity.
• Proven success managing complex, multi-functional projects requiring collaboration and teamwork.
• Experience managing multiple competing tasks with various deadlines and evolving priorities
• Ability to anticipate and address pro-actively issues that may arise from the plans and actions of one’s team (or oneself).
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills allowing effective interaction with distributors, colleagues and executives – assertiveness coupled with collegiality.
• Ability to attract talent, to coach and develop colleagues, and to build an enduring organization.
• Solid leadership skills and demonstrated ability to build motivate and inspire a team.
