The Columbia, SC Production Office of Chubb Insurance is currently recruiting for a Part-Time Personal Lines Appraiser. Chubb's Personal Lines Division provides property insurance for homes, fine arts, jewelry, collectibles, autos, yachts and executive coverages.
Job Skills Required:
The successful candidate will be able to deal effectively with a wide variety of people; have an interest in art, architecture or construction; have an aptitude for evaluating, analyzing and interpreting information; have proficiency in expressing oneself well in verbal and written communication; and an ability to adapt to new ideas and situations. Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships with clients in order to learn more about their needs and to effectively market or sell additional products based on these needs. Effective time and desk management and organizational skills are critical. Must be able to navigate and use computer systems and applications, including Internet and e-mail.
Position Description:
This is a part-time opportunity. Appraisers provide a critical service by analyzing customer's homes and their valued contents, making specific recommendations to correct deficiencies, determining the appropriate replacement costs and providing underwriters with an overall risk analysis. This includes visiting with clients in their homes to discuss insurance needs, establish replacement costs, evaluate adequacy of life safety/security systems. Create risk assessment reports to be used by underwriters, agents and insureds. Based on an insured's possessions and lifestyle, identify and effectively market the need for additional Chubb coverages. The appraiser will cultivate relationships with clients to effectively market Chubb's products, and to sell the appraisal process as a demonstration Chubb commitment to superior service. The appraiser will have responsibility for the South Carolina coastal area, with the high concentration in Charleston. Candidate can reside in central/southeastern SC.
Education:
Four-year college degree preferred or equivalent experience.
