Full-time Sr. Compliance Analyst

at Pacific Life in Nebraska

This position can be located in Omaha, NE or Newport Beach, CA.

- Responsible for drafting variable, fixed, equity indexed, and immediate annuity contracts, applications, riders, endorsements, disclosures and other supporting documentation. This includes reviewing product specifications and researching previous product filings in order to draft language that reflects both new product features and current state requirements.

- Oversee the filing of variable and non-variable annuity products with the state insurance departments. This function includes supervising the creation of filing packages and submission to the state insurance departments.

- Negotiate form approvals and respond to highly complex objections from state insurance departments, monitor state correspondence to assure that responses are accurate and timely, and guide follow-up contact with the states during the filing process.

- Participate in the product development process by providing input regarding possible state regulatory issues and problems related to proposed contracts, riders and endorsements. Also review new draft language when created by analysts.

- Serve as the department's main contact for Pacific Life & Annuity forms and products, and maintain contact with consultants specializing in New York issues. Participate in LICONY meetings as necessary.

- Review existing and proposed state regulations to determine their effect on Pacific Life products. Assure that any needed contract, application, or rider changes are made and implemented prior to any state deadline, and participate in any internal groups created to implement any required changes.

- Establish and maintain strong interaction and relationships with internal and external customers.

- For internal customers, there is a significant interaction with Operations, Product Development, Legal, Actuarial, and Advanced Sales in order to assure our products meet the needs of sales and marketing and can be feasibly administered, yet are drafted in compliance with state regulations and federal tax requirements.

- For external customers, mainly state insurance regulators, the lines of communications must be kept open and friendly in order to obtain needed product approvals and to offer meaningful input to new and revised regulations.

- Work effectively with the product compliance staff in the Newport Beach office, and with other compliance areas in the Newport Beach office.

- Review proposed standards developed by industry and regulatory organizations, including the ACLI, NAIC, LICONY, and IRI, in order to assure that the standards do not negatively impact Pacific Life's annuity products.

Qualifications:
- College degree or equivalent related to financial services. Equivalent education would be the completion or progress towards recognized industry designation programs, such as CLU, ChFC, and/or LOMA.
- 4 to 6 years experience with the life insurance industry, with 3 years minimum experience in a product compliance/filing capacity focused on the drafting and filing of variable and non-variable life and/or annuity products.
- Strong working knowledge of variable and non-variable life and annuity contracts and common coverage riders. Detail oriented with strong ability to maintain numerous ongoing projects and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
- Proven strong oral and written communication skills, with good PC skills including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
