Claims Analyst

In this key role, you would manage all aspects of claims, including general liability and worker’s compensation claims; approve financial loss reserves and grant authority to the third party administrator for the settlement of assigned claims. This position is also responsible for the review of, investigation methods and techniques, case evaluations, claim audits, negotiations, disposition of claims, conducting claim or medical reviews, prepares loss analysis reports for operations management and positively motivating operations management to reduce claim costs.

Duties
- Handle lower-level liability and/or physical damage claims under $5000.00
- Review lost time worker’s compensation claims.
- Gather and analyze information necessary to accurately evaluate claims and reserves.
- Auditing of claim files handled by the third party administrator (TPA) adjusters.
- Utilizes available resources, as appropriate, to ensure an effective resolution of claims.
- Makes claim decisions within established authority levels and consults with manager or director, on claims in excess of those levels.
- Respond timely to TPA adjusters and property locations questions.
- Assists in the improvement of workflow process revision.
- Contact property risk control managers quarterly for any issues or concerns with TPA or other vendor’s services.
- Demonstrates commitment to business unit strategies that support corporate objectives.
- Has authority to resolve claims of less than $5000.00.
- Keeps manager or director informed verbally and in writing of activities and problems within assigned area of responsibility; refers matters beyond limits of authority and expertise to Manager or director.
- Supports Regional Claim Manager or Claim Director as needed to continue the work-flow process in the department.
- Maintains professional relationship with TPA adjusters and property locations.

REQUIREMENTS:
A college degree is preferred or equivalent Risk Management experience, to demonstrate an understanding of the insurance industry and the business environment in which the department operates. The ability to establish instant and lasting credibility with all levels of management and staff is essential. The ideal candidate must have: proven computer skills consisting of spreadsheet and word processing, high degree of flexibility, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Qualified applicants must have excellent communications and negotiating skills; and proven decision making abilities. Minimal travel required, up to 5-10 percent.
