Staff Accountant - Investment Accounting

Currently, Chubb is seeking a Staff Accountant for our Investment Accounting department in the Warren, NJ office.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting requiring a minimum GPA overall and in major of 3.0. One to two years of accounting experience preferred.
Competencies/Technical Skills
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 1-2 years prior accounting or bookkeeping experience is a plus
- Strong basic accounting skills and good written and verbal communication skills required
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to effectively work on several activities concurrently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work late with the team during peak periods necessary
- PeopleSoft and other mainframe experience is a plus.
Position Description
- Reviews monthly investment system transactions for accuracy and maintains general ledger Interacts with the Investment Services department to ensure necessary corrections are made
- Maintains and reconciles monthly schedule D
- Produces AM BEST schedule D quarterly and annually
- Analyzes investment income by comparing recorded amounts to projected amounts and investigates discrepancies
- Reviews and verifies monthly listing of investment acquisitions and disposals for the finance committee of the Board of Directors
- Assists in identifying and addressing system issues and in the development and testing of new reports
- Prepares footnote schedules for the annual and quarterly report filed with the SEC
- Responds to ad hoc informational requests and completes special projects as they arise
- Prepares footnote schedules for the annual and quarterly statutory filing.
