Currently, Chubb is seeking an Underwriter for our Affiliate Managers Branch in the Whitehouse Station, NJ office.

Position Description:
The Underwriter will be responsible for managing a $7-9 million book of business for the Samsung Unit of the Affiliate Managers Branch (AMB). The Samsung Unit underwrites and manages all insurance operations on behalf of the US operations of Samsung Fire & Marine, a large Korean insurance company. Accounts are associated with the Samsung group of companies or Asian community business. Predominant territories are New York and California but accounts could be countrywide. Lines of business include package, automobile, workers compensation, and umbrella. The underwriter will be responsible for conducting renewal review for the territory assigned. The underwriter will also be responsible for executing the department business plan, specifically to achieve growth, rate and profit objectives. Job also includes creating individual producer business plans to develop and maintain broker relationships in the underwriter’s respective territory. The individual must be able to work effectively and collaborate with a team of underwriters, underwriting associates, claims loss control personnel as well as with our Affiliate. The position requires periodic travel.

Job Requirements:
The above position requires a strong service orientation to facilitate positive relationships with brokers as well as our affiliate account representatives. The potential candidate should have solid knowledge of commercial underwriting and insurance industry practices. He/she should also demonstrate technical expertise, and specific product knowledge.

In addition, the individual should possess the following skills/qualities:
• Minimum of 5 years underwriting US package, automobile, worker’s compensation and umbrella
• Proven technical expertise and product specific knowledge
• Strong (verbal and written) communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Ability to work independently, show initiative, while demonstrating strong collaboration skills in a team environment
• Solid organizational and analytical skills
• Sound account management skills
• Leadership, mentoring and coaching skills
• Proven, successful sales skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software
• Bilingual a plus (Korean or Chinese and English) but a firm grasp of the English language is important
