Full-time Senior Server Administrator

Position Summary:
Must be relatively comfortable with most aspects of systems administration and have a firm understanding of the respective operating system discipline. Under some direction from management, the ability to install, configure, test, maintain and troubleshoot most OS and hardware related items such as networks, printers, disks and file storage systems. Must ensure smooth system operations, connectivity and functionality and usually achieve efficient, reliable, high performance results. The ability to identify and resolve issues and recommend solutions while assisting in setting the general direction for the organization.

Responsibilities:
With minimal assistance, able to: install, customize, configure and test the operating systems; configure server networks, disks and file systems for applications; apply patches and fixes.
Installs, configures and maintains critical business applications, assists in evaluating user requirements for system availability, capacity and compatibility (e.g. CPU, speed, memory, storage requirements, and other specifications).
Assists in providing detailed performance analysis reporting for continuous improvement of system and database.
Assesses system capacity issues, installs and tests operating system releases and upgrades; performs trouble-shooting and installs fixes to resolve problems and optimize system performance with little/no assistance/direction from senior personnel.
Using systems management software and other tools and utilities, monitors system and network speed, reliability and performance.
Ensures that all server operating systems are backed-up regularly; troubleshoots and resolves issues such as drive failures, client down, and network card errors.
Plays a major role in coordinating and maintaining the Data Center Disaster Recovery Plan for responsible critical systems. Including planning, participating and leading regularly scheduled tests.
Provides support to users in remote locations.
Designs, installs and monitors system level security and data integrity/control for multiple systems.
Assists with the research and evaluation of hardware, software and systems products and devices from various vendors.
Upholds the Crawford Code of Business Conduct at all times.
Participates and leads special projects or performs duties in other areas as requested including system installations, migrations and deployments

Education:
Completion of a college or university degree in information systems/technology and/or over 5 years of related field experience in implementing systems on a large scale or an equivalent combination of training and experience that would produce the following knowledge, abilities and skills.

Knowledge and Skills:
Operating system architecture, characteristics, capabilities and commands applicable to system administration and maintenance.
Database management and data storage systems and software, including architectures, diagnostic tools, commands and utilities, applicable to systems administration responsibilities.
Methods and techniques for performing connectivity testing and network analysis and troubleshooting, including the use of diagnostic tools and equipment.
Systems analysis, design principles and tools, including those applicable to client server processing.
Assisting with the preparation of clear, concise and accurate reports and documentation to be reviewed by various members of the management team.
Ability to lead or manage “key” critical infrastructure projects including written recommendations and assisting with vendor evaluations.
Ability to analyze complex problems, evaluate alternatives to make sound recommendations for solutions with little/no assistance from senior personnel.

Experience:
Five or more years of system administration experience.

Special Requirements/Certifications:
Stay current on training of technologies and certifications.
Must complete continuing education requirements as outlined by Crawford Educational Services
