PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To provide rate and underwriting analysis services; to support external and internal customers; and to assist in training new rate analysts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs accurate and timely rate analyses pertaining to self insurance, retrospective rating, wage continuation, and cost of claims.
Responds to external and internal client questions (written or phone) concerning issues related to rating, underwriting and coverage.
Assists in the group rating process including analysis for eligibility; reviews and processes employers rejected by the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC).
Assists in forming and maintaining groups for rating purposes including setting criteria, review of new data and calculating pooling distributions.
Completes tasks generated systematically or internally in a timely manner.
Assists in analyzing non-Ohio rating plans as needed.
Assists with training new colleagues.
Supports the total performance management initiative.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
Baccalaureate degree in mathematics or related field preferred.
Experience
Three (3) years experience in Ohio Worker's Compensation rating required.
Skills & Knowledge
In-depth knowledge of Ohio Workers Compensation rating
Good oral and written communication
PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
Strong mathematical aptitude
Good interpersonal skills
Good analytical and problem solving skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities
Ability to work in a team environment or independently
Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
WORK ENVIRONMENT
