Product Analyst
at Plymouth Rock Assurance in Massachusetts

The Product Analyst will support the achievement of Pilgrim’s profitability and growth objectives by analyzing client and market data and monitoring industry developments to make pricing and product design recommendations. This position regularly interfaces with Pilgrim’s leadership team, prospective clients, and reinsurers on pricing and product design recommendations and service proposals.
Core Responsibilities:
• Perform loss ratio analysis for the Massachusetts residual market to support service proposals for Pilgrim’s assigned risk plan service offerings.
• Develop pricing for current and prospective clients through analysis of staffing levels, cost structure and cash flow, including sensitivity analysis for different scenarios.
• Lead annual pricing discussions with reinsurance partners, supporting all analysis and answering any questions.
• Assist with policy and premium projections for the budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Work closely with IT to lead systems implementation of any product changes through rate testing and coordination with operations managers.
• Develop and maintain relationships with industry experts within the company, clients and regulatory bodies, as needed.
• Support data requests made by the Underwriting, Finance and Legal departments related to products and policy attributes.
• Complete and analyze monthly and quarterly reports used to manage Pilgrim’s financial and operational performance, as well as ad hoc analyses as needed.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics or other quantitative discipline required.
• 5+ years of insurance experience in pricing or product management roles.
• Background in assigned risk plans and/or reinsurance preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience using query tools like Hyperion or Business Objects and familiarity with SQL.
• Demonstrated experience leading projects to recommend and implement changes in pricing, product design and business processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting recommendations to leadership team and proposals to prospective clients.
