Full-time Executive Liability Claims Attorney/Manager

We currently have a career opportunity in our Chicago, IL office for an Executive Liability Claims Attorney/Manager. No relocation assistance, local candidates only.

POSITION SUMMARY
Serve as a Legal and claims resource to both internal and external Aon FSG clients to advise and advocate on executive liability claims, coverage and exposures. The individual will work closely with Aon Financial Services Group brokers and staff and will be responsible for analyzing coverage, claims, legal issues and exposures and provide expertise and advocacy in resolving. The individual with be expected to negotiate with clients, carriers, and outside counsel to achieve satisfactory results for claim and coverage situations. 

Establish the department’s immediate and long range goals and objectives. Analyzes, recommends, and implements solutions/enhancements regarding systems, productivity, and technical matters. Directs, plans, and coordinates daily departmental activities through supervisory staff members. Fosters a creative team environment to bring forth the skills and talents of department members.

Scope of expertise requires D&O experience - Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, and / or Commercial Crime experience would be valued. 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Candidate must be a licensed attorney with three to five years claims/legal experience in insurance and preferably executive liability insurance such as D&O, fiduciary, employment practices, E&O and fidelity insurance as well as complex civil litgation experience.
Strong verbal, written, analytical, and leadership skills.
Coach/mentor and build teams effectively. Computer literate.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to multi-task and adjust to changing priorities.
Manage time effectively.
Enjoys working with and guiding others in their professional growth and development.
Ability to work independently, a self- starter and the ability to work in an environment of teamwork & collaboration.
Computer literate in MSWord and Excel.
Defines objectives and develops realistic plans. Champions change.
Must be willing to travel when necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Review and approve claim files. Responsible for the interviewing and hiring process. Prepare performance evaluations, goal setting and performance management reviews in accordance with corporate policies and applicable laws. Deliver, set action plans and follows up with appropriate individuals. Responsible for training of new team members. Trains team on completion of paperwork, office procedures and positively reinforce original training. Motivate team members and assist in setting individual goals and dpartment performance standards. Develop claims examiner’s professional phone skills and etiquette through monitoring and personal observances. Ensure adequate phone coverage. Initiate standards and practices to ensure the department functions efficiently and effectively to meet set goals; clearly define and communicate these goals to the staff. Instill and nurture leadership skills in employees. Plan departmental activities, set deadlines, and determine status of work in progress. Engage in long-range planning by analyzing data to detect trends and forecast growth. Structure department/direct hiring practices to meet staffing requirements. Develop and maintain various department budgets. Identify and communicate technological needs based on the department growth. Other duties as assigned.
