CLAIMS EXAMINER II
Risk Management
The Seattle Division's Risk Management Department, located in Bellevue, Washington has an opening for a Claims Examiner II. This is a non-union, salaried, administrative, full time position for self-insured Third-Party Liability claims handling.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-4 years college degree or equivalent experience
-3-5 years premise liability claims and litigation experience
-Must possess working knowledge of applicable premise liability case/common law.
-Strong investigative abilities, written and recorded statement taking.
-Excellent oral and written communications.
-Superior analytical and negotiation skills.
-Computer proficiency with basic claims system and Microsoft Office
-AIC designation is preferred.
-Problem analysis, problem solving and decision making skills
-Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadline and shift priority workloads
-High degree of integrity and confidentiality required
-Must be self-motivated, and enjoy taking an adversarial position in the best interest of the Company on pertinent issues.
-Familiarity with medical codes, terminology, conditions and procedures preferred
-In current position 6 months for internal candidates
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
-Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate settlement of liability claims including in person contact with customers securing recorded statements.
-Coordinate with Store Mangers and Assistants for in-store settlements
-Communicate and support attorneys on Safeway's litigation cases
-Determine liability/negligence based on State case law.
-Maintain contact with non-attorney represented customers/claimants.
-Manage litigated cases, answer interrogatories, and attend depositions, court hearings, and mediations.
-Supervise investigations, and vendors.
-Travel 20%
-Other projects as assigned
SALARY: Grade 314, structure starts at $47,700. Salary will be commensurate with experience qualifications.
