Commercial Underwriter w/ Exp in Property, Machinery & Marine

Currently, we are seeking a Commercial Underwriter in the St. Louis market – focused on Property, Machinery & Marine (PMM).
Major Responsibilities:
• Underwrite and negotiate renewals and endorsements with a total premium of approximately $7,000,000
• Lines of business include property, ocean cargo, inland marine, boiler and machinery
• Achieve favorable retention within given territory
• Marketing and servicing accounts based on Chubb guidelines.
• Underwrite and produce $1M plus in new business while developing strong relationships with independent agents and brokers in order to successfully manage our business.
• Travel required to producer locations in the territory.
Skills and Competencies:
• Candidate must have proven ability to successfully negotiate on all levels and develop producer relations
• A strong track record of service orientation is required
• Knowledge of marketing principles, underwriting and pricing strategies
• The aptitude to attract and retain profitable business is essential
• A solid background in risk analysis is essential
• Candidate must have strong interpersonal and written communication skills
• The ability to work independently and cohesively in a team environment in conjunction with service staff, loss control, center underwriters and other branch employees is essential
• The ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment is crucial
Education and Experience:
• Two to five years of property, inland marine cargo and/or multi-line underwriting experience is required
• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience
