This unit provides and analyzes data for supported companies from a variety of sources. This position specifically involves responsibility for a number of regularly published reports, in addition to providing ad hoc data analysis. An analytical background, a high level of technical attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are required for this position. The ideal candidate is someone with a strong ability to bring new ideas and implement new processes and process improvements to workflows.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assume responsibility for existing reporting processes. This includes updating, understanding, and publishing reports within established deadlines. It also includes troubleshooting when questions or inconsistencies arise and documenting or improving processes when needed.
Develop new reports for the business. This includes understanding and manipulating data, automating, documenting, and publishing these reports. The ideal candidate will meet with different business teams to discuss the specifications of the report and communicate the limitations/capabilities of the data available.
Department expert that has an in-depth understanding of the varied data sources and is capable of answering all data-related inquiries and also provide data to internal customers, as needed.
Assist with the development of datasets to be used by other members of the department. This requires expert SQL skills and the capability to learn new software quickly.
Assist with defining data requirements and testing newly implemented data fields with each new product change.
Strong candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to the premium and loss budgeting process.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in math, computer science, economics, or a related discipline.
