Auto Damage Adjuster- Inside

Position Summary:
Under general supervision, evaluates and settles auto damage claims of varying degrees of complexity and severity by investigating losses, negotiating settlements and reporting obtained information in a timely and efficient manner, while maintaining adequate production levels.
Responsibilities:
Adjust auto physical damage claims; handling all types of vehicles, to include automobiles and a variety of heavy equipment vehicles.
Adjust vehicle claims with varying degrees of complexity and severity (i.e. coverage issues, multi-car).
Make voice to voice contact with claimant within 24 hours of receiving a newly assigned claim.
Recognize and apply how jurisdictional issues impact the claim.
Request the appropriate type of inspection, based on the details of the loss, to effectively and efficiently resolve the claim (i.e. Managed Repair Program, field assignment appraisal, heavy equipment, when a Total Loss is determined, coordinate through the Total Loss representative).
Conduct damage management, to include properly managing the repair process (i.e. mitigating storage, rental, early tow to salvage and other related expenses by working closely with appraisers, rental facilities, body shops, repair facilities and other vendors).
Develop and continually update a plan of action, including maintaining an effective diary to bring the claim to resolution in a timely manner. Manage file inventory by utilizing an effective diary system and documenting claim file activities in accordance with established procedures.
Assign Auto Physical Damage claims to Managed Repair Program.
Proactively follow up on pending appraisals for assignment upload and status.
Coordinate activities (i.e. scheduling).
Manage assignments in compliance with claim strategies.
Accurately input information into the claim system.
Consistently provide superior customer service to internal and external customers.
Document files status throughout the process in appropriate claim system.
Execute prompt and immediate contact with vehicle/equipment owners to inspect loss, provide claim direction, exchange information, negotiate, settle and move vehicles/equipment as appropriate.
Recognize fraud, subrogation, and salvage opportunities and refer to appropriate expert.
Perform other related duties and tasks as requested.
Requirements:
Strong technical background including extensive knowledge of auto repair and repair techniques, including thorough understanding of auto terminology and construction, knowledge of claims appraisal systems and overall claim operations
Licensed as required by state and local jurisdictions
Minimum 2-3 years prior experience adjusting auto claims
Solid organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, problem solve, manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
Strong investigative skills and creativity to achieve optimal resolution
Fallibility in work scheduling
Strong customer service and communication skills
Completion of continuing education requirements as outlined by Crawford Educational Services
Preferred:
College degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
I-CAR Gold Class Professional level in Collision Repair preferred
