Full-time Underwriting Associate

Our Underwriting department is seeking an analyst to work on a broad range of projects related to insurance. The ideal candidates will have the desire to work in an innovative and team-oriented environment, be self-motivating and have a strong work ethic. Candidates who seek new ways to creatively find and solve business problems are highly encouraged to consider this role. Additionally, candidates are required to have a solid foundation of analytical and statistical skills gained from related coursework and practical work experience.
 
Ideal Qualities:
BS or MS degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, statistics, or related field
2-3 years of work experience in pricing or analyzing auto and/or homeowners insurance
High proficiency with programming and data analysis; SQL or SAS preferred
High level of intellectual curiosity
Strong written and oral communication skills 

Key Responsibilities:
·  Work with predictive modelers to assess impacts of underwriting and rating models on quality of business and profitability
·  Develop and maintain databases used in predictive modeling and other projects
·  Work on ad hoc analytical projects
·  Develop IT requirements and specifications for model implementation
· Communicate to diverse audiences including technical and non-technical, senior management and fellow analysts
