Reinsurance Account Specialist - College Degree Pref - Enthusiastic Team Player

Currently, Chubb is seeking a Reinsurance Account Specialist for the Warren, NJ office.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
While working under the supervision of the Reinsurance Settlement Supervisor, the Account Specialist will be responsible for timely cash settlements of reinsurance premiums and reinsurance loss recoverables. This will also include monthly review of the reinsurance premium and loss subledger to ensure accurate account balances. The Account Specialist will also be responsible for timely reconciliation of open balances between Chubb and its reinsurers and brokers as well as resolving any discrepancies. This position will be accountable for the pursuit and documentation of loss collections related to outstanding recoverables. This will require daily interaction with brokers and reinsurers to determine payment status and to identify outstanding issues. In addition, the Account Specialist will be responsible for posting all cash transactions to the general ledger as well as coding all related statistical entries in the reinsurance subledger prior to each month end close. Additionally, this position will prepare various account analyses and journal entries and participate in other special projects as needed.
COMPETENCIES/TECHNICAL SKILLS:
• The ideal candidate must be able to understand insurance/reinsurance terminology and interpret complex reinsurance accounts. The individual must be self-motivated and enjoy working both independently and in a team environment. Must possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Requires ability to reconcile accounts, research and analyze data, draw conclusions and summarize results. Must be detail oriented, accurate and timely with a volume of detail as well as possess the ability to maintain pertinent documentation.
• Requires strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time and prioritize multiple work assignments to meet deadlines. Accepts accountability and demonstrates good business decision making skills.
• Candidate must possess effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with management, other staff members and internal/external customers.
• Requires ability to assess and recommend new procedures and strategies to increase the group's efficiency and effectiveness.
• Strong technical knowledge and understanding of the Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc) and ability to learn and effectively utilize internal systems (FOCUS, ProCede).
EDUCATION:
• College degree with minimum of 6 credits in Accounting.
• Prior insurance experience or cash processing a plus.
