We are currently seeking an Underwriter to work with our Surety Team in our Minneapolis Branch. This Underwriter is responsible for the development and fulfillment of goals established for profit, service and relationship management with branches, producers and accounts. The candidate must work independently as well as part of an established team while operating within the branch structure to include interacting with the home office and agency plant driving the dual underwriting process. Accountability for making recommendations and decisions according to established parameters and conveying to Home Office for concurrence on a timely basis is a key underwriting responsibility as well as:
• Active travel to effectively manage the assigned territory in order to maintain existing relationships as well as develop new business relationships to achieve goals.
• Participation in the development of trainees.
• Support of fellow underwriters as needed to manage peaks in workflows.
• Review and monitor all assigned account Reports of Execution (ROE) and documentation to ensure compliance with rate, commission and all other underwriting guidelines.
• Assistance with premium collection function.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• 3 years or more Field and/or Home Office underwriting experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to communicate at all levels within the department and with senior management of agency plant and with clients
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
• Ability to prioritize and manage all aspects of assigned book of business
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Possess developing financial and business analytical skills in surety
• Demonstrated ability to make independent recommendations on complex issues
• Bachelor's Degree or significant work experience required.
