MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILTIES OF JOB:
• Analyze referral to determine nature of loss, coverage provided and scope of damage.
• Conduct investigations of all aspects of reported claims. Secure appropriate supporting documentation and verify same for accuracy, relationship and completeness.
• Establish accurate and timely reserves.
• Deliver superior customer service and satisfaction by initiating prompt contact, setting expectations, and effectively utilizing all available technology.
• Seek technical assistance and reserve and pay authority in handling claims exceeding delegated authority.
• Effective inventory management. Monitor same to achieve timely development of the file and timely disposition of the claim.
• Promptly and properly document all developments in claim file.
• Demonstrate the exercise of prudent judgement in reaching final disposition of claim by evaluating nature of loss, liability, injury/damage, coverage provided and applicable limits.
• Effectively negotiate settlements where appropriate.
• Effective communication and demonstrated ability to work well with the following: peers, outside adjusters, customer services division, core claims and underwriting departments, agents, insureds, counsel, third parties and/or their legal representatives.
• Recognize and pursue subrogation where applicable.
• Partner with SIU field investigators
• Adhere to all statutory regulations and Unfair Claim Practices Acts and Statutory Immunity Acts.
• Utilize all relevant databases, including but not limited to, ISO, LEXIS/Nexis, CIB.
• Partner with law enforcement agencies
• Recognize Broad Trends, including account and line of business, and effectively communicate those trends.
• Market the SIU program to internal and external partners
• Handle complex SIU claims with minimal supervision and oversight.
• Provide oversight and control over outside vendors.
• Apply litigation management techniques.
• Effectively support Supervisor in Special Projects.
• Effectively lead Claim Committees
• Other duties as may be assigned or delegated by the Supervisor or Claim Manager.
