Full-time Tester II - 5+ yrs Testing Exp - SQL & UNIX Required

Currently, Chubb is seeking a Tester II for the Warren, NJ office.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Tester II is responsible for administering testing on Claims IT solutions to ensure stable, low-defect production systems. This may include, but is not limited to:
•Conduct and/or provide support for the delivery of testing efforts
•Conduct test planning, documentation and execution of systems, regression and performance tests to uncover defects and improve the overall quality of the software

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Responsible for creating/maintaining test plans and manual test cases. Must be capable of transforming manual test cases into functional test scripts using automation tools
•Ensures the highest quality standards are met in terms of functionality, usability, and reliability through manual testing and by developing automated testing solutions
•Responsible for defining strategies and test cases covering various phases of testing; execute test cases independently or collaborate with other QA members in test execution
•The ideal candidate should be experienced with standard test methodologies, able to quickly acquire Claims IT business and technical knowledge to come up with robust test cases, and work against aggressive timelines
•Participate in reviews and provide feedback on System Architecture, Design documents and Specifications from testing perspective
•Work closely with Claims IT SIT Lead ensure that all testing activities occur in a timely fashion and to the level of quality required by the governing standards and business requirements
•Develop an in-depth understanding of assigned Claims IT applications, databases and infrastructure
•Interface with Claim IT Technical analysts and/or development teams to understand and resolve any quality issues that are discovered during any phase of the project life cycle
•Review Claim IT Business Requirements and Software System Designs for gaps, traceability and testability. Lead testing gaps and impacts analysis. Perform ambiguity reviews of business requirements and functional specification documents
•Participate and/or act as a lead in the creation, preparation, and conduct of test reviews and the development and execution of test plans and test scripts
•Manage defects and provide written communication and metrics on testing progress of application systems
•Support Claims IT SIT Lead to identify risks and to develop mitigation strategies
•Assist in implementing improvements in test methods and strategies-continuous evaluation of testing process for possible improvements

IT Industry Knowledge
•Build and maintain a solid understanding of the major technology trends impacting the business
•Maintain a broad business and IT product knowledge, including the impact of industry trends, regulatory environment, and relevant best practices on the recommended solutions
•Follow the standards, procedures and methodologies in the SDLC development life cycle in development and/or recommendation of technical solutions and testing best practices
•Build and maintain a solid understanding of testing processes and procedures for software development

Business Partnership
•Build and maintain an in-depth understanding of business process and products across Claims and Claims IT

Teamwork
•Manage individual workload and deliver to agreed upon milestones
•Demonstrate strong ability to work in a team environment and foster cross-team collaboration
•Create a strong morale and spirit in the Claims IT team through fostering open dialogue and collaborative atmosphere

Knowledge Sharing
•Promote the use of knowledge management and knowledge sharing processes and tools
•Share/leverage successful products, processes and practices across Claims IT
•Assist in evaluating knowledge sharing tools and making recommendations for knowledge management improvements
•Ensure documentation is captured appropriately and is easily assessable to the team members

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor's Degree (required) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
•Over 5 years of progressive hands-on software testing experience on a wide variety project sizes and complex multi-tiered software applications including web based presentation layers(.NET), interfaces/ETL’s, middleware and databases.
•Over 3 years of automation experience using the latest tools, specifically designing automation frameworks.
•Experience with systems implementation and software development lifecycle.
•Experience implementing quality guidelines, testing standards and procedures.
•Experience with Insurance claims business processes is a significant plus.
•Experience with database verification and data integrity. Strong data analysis background required.
•Experience with SQL and UNIX is required.
•Some development background is preferred.
•Experience using defect tracking tools is required; including the implementation or administration of the tools is a preferred.
•Experience working with DBMSs including Oracle, DB2 and IMS is desired.
•Hands-on experience using Cognos as a report development tool is desired.
•Experience in Data warehousing testing projects, with Data Warehouse Tools is desired.
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel macros is a must).
•Excellent verbal and writing skills
•Strong communication skills to work with various user groups and technical teams
•Must be a team player with “can-do” attitude.
•Self-Starter – ability to quickly learn new tools and products.
•Excellent time management skills to multi-task across multiple simultaneous projects, tasks, defects, product releases.
•Experience working in a fast-paced environment using Agile and Waterfall product development methods.
