Position Description:
The Underwriting Services Associate is responsible for providing day-to-day underwriting support to Chubb Commercial Insurance to meet department, branch, and corporate goals relating to underwriting profit, renewal retention, rate, customer service and producer/client relations. This position reports under the Operations Services Department and is part of the Branch Services Cores accountable for entering New Line Submissions, the Triage of Endorsements, and miscellaneous underwriting report ordering.
The ideal candidate must have exceptional customer service, communication, multi-tasking, teamwork, and organizational skills. In addition the individual must demonstrate the following competencies and behaviors:
• Workload Management - The ability to prioritize work and perform with in time constraints to meet business objectives.
• Customer Focus - Demonstrates timely responsiveness to customer requests and understands customer needs and acts on them.
• Communication - Listens carefully and attentively, asks questions to clarify expectations and issues, and communicates in a clear, concise, professional manner.
• Business and Organizational Knowledge - Demonstrates a basic understanding of business unit objectives. Familiar with basic workflows and procedures. Understands customer service targets. Knowledge of underwriting principles, underwriting information, policy coverages and key endorsements. Basic understanding of financial concepts and terminology.
• Technical - Developing proficiency in applicable technology and processing tools. Proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Teamwork - Displays a willingness to help and learn from other team members. Actively seeks ways to assist team members and positively accepts additional responsibilities whenever possible. Demonstrate flexibility in responding to rapidly changing requests and a "can do" approach to new ideas. Effectively work with supervisor to communicate status of work, issues and concerns in a timely manner, along with identifying training needs and appropriate training solutions.
Major responsibilities:
The successful person in this role will be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• CCI New Line Submission & Prospect Entry Processing including
o Reviews incoming submissions to determine correct service branch and customer group
o Performs OFAC Clearance
o Indexes all supporting documentation in the underwriting file
o Completes entry with the appropriate name clearance system and indexes all supporting documentation in the underwriting file
o Enters Prospects according to business rules
o Generates correspondence associated with new line submissions per Corporate Rules
• CCI Endorsement Triage Processing
o Monitor and manage endorsement e-mail database daily
o Apply endorsement triage chart guidelines to all endorsements
o Create work order with critical information for all endorsements and submit for processing or for UA review.
• Branch Service Requests which includes
o BORs, Flood Maps, Elias, Loss Runs, OFAC Research, ATD Inspections,
o Loss Control Surveys, Prospect Entry/Close Outs
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or GED Required
Previous experience in a similar role preferred
