Currently, Chubb is seeking a Senior Underwriter for the Washington, D.C. office.
Position Description:
The CIS Senior Underwriter II will focus on middle market commercial opportunities in the Washington DC Branch territory and will manage a $5 – 6+ million book of business with aggressive new business goals ($1.5+ million). This includes the property, liability, auto, worker’s compensation and umbrella lines of business. The candidate selected will review and evaluate renewal and new business in accordance with established underwriting guidelines.
The CIS Sr Underwriter II is responsible for building relationships with producers through frequent agency travel, negotiating price, developing prospects, managing profitability, retention and new business goals. Additionally, the position will be expected to help achieve department goals for profit, rate and growth. The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated individual that has the ability to work effectively in collaboration with a team of underwriters, customer service representatives, claims and loss control personnel.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidates should have experience building effective agency relationships through focused travel, superior service and producer education. Previous experience/knowledge of commercial multi-peril, automobile, worker’s compensation, umbrella underwriting, rate and issuance is critical. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate history of focused prospecting and new business generation.
All candidates should also possess the following competencies:
• Marketing plan development and complex account handling
• Solid interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent negotiation skills
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of leadership skills
• Excellent time management skills and initiative
• Ability to work independently, while demonstrating collaboration with other team members.
