Full-time Quality Assurance Manager - 4+ years Exp Testing & Management

Currently, Chubb is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager for the Whitehouse Station, NJ office.

Position Summary

• Ensure that Personal Lines IT delivers stable, low-defect production systems that meet or exceed the requirements
• Responsible for planning for testing phases, testing preparations, testing automation, and test execution
• Provide supervisory oversight and technical guidance to the Testers
• Assist with the facilitation of User Acceptance Testing
• Ensure quality of product is measured and appropriate feedback is delivered to the provider


Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Manage Personal Lines IT Testing portfolio for all test planning, documentation and execution of functional, systems, regression, performance and tests to uncover defects and improve the overall quality of the software
• Work closely with business partners and business systems support technicians to ensure proper UAT and business partner sign off
• Define and evaluate testing metrics. Implement metrics to measure quality
• Work closely with Project Managers to review requirements/specifications, estimate testing tasks, and size project releases
• Participate in scheduling of target dates for testing deliverables, prioritizes and monitors activities to meet such dates
• Generate test reports that clearly communicate tests results, concerns and project status with an emphasis on project risk, including defect rates
• Accountable for technical release and deployment activities
• Accountable for managing/monitoring staff performance in accordance with Corporate HR guidelines
• Interface with business and development teams to understand and resolve any quality issues and testing defects that are discovered during any phase of the project life cycle
• Participate in reviews and provide feedback on requirements, design documents and specifications from testing perspective
• Support Project Manager to identify risks and to develop mitigation strategies
• Implement improvements in test methods and strategies-continuous evaluation of testing process for possible improvements
• Support both discretionary and light-on projects – manage and coordinate cross projects testing activities and resources
• Identify and drive the implementation of testing tools, techniques and methodologies and ensure their effective application
• Manage workload of staff to verify team members are consistently managed and challenged
• Identify ways to share resources across Personal Lines IT to promote information sharing and career/skills development
• Responsible for knowledge sharing across IT

IT Industry Knowledge

• Build and maintain a solid understanding of the major technology trends impacting the business
• Build and maintain a solid understanding of standard software testing methods of all Personal Lines IT technologies.
• Maintain a broad business and IT product knowledge, including the impact of industry trends, regulatory environment, and relevant best practices on the recommended solutions
• Follow the standards, procedures and methodologies in the SDLC development life cycle in development and/or recommendation of technical solutions and performance testing best practices

Business Partnership

• Build and maintain an in-depth understanding of business process and products across Personal Lines and Personal Lines IT
• Use active listening to define business testing needs, and recommend the appropriate solutions based on a strong understanding of these business needs
• Use effective communication techniques to convey testing results and implication to Personal Lines IT business leadership to resolve current potential quality issues

Teamwork

• Manage staff workload and ensures deliverables are met
• Proactively promote consistent project-based performance measurement and skills development of staff
• Demonstrate strong ability to work in a team environment and foster cross-team collaboration
• Create a strong morale and spirit in the Personal Lines IT team through fostering open dialogue and collaborative atmosphere

Knowledge Sharing

• Promote the use of knowledge management and knowledge sharing processes and tools
• Ensure successful products, processes and practices are shared/leveraged across Personal Lines IT
• Assist in evaluating knowledge sharing tools and making recommendations for knowledge management improvements
• Ensure documentation is captured appropriately and is easily assessable to the team members

Recommended Qualifications:

• College degree, advanced degree or certified in systems testing or equivalent work experience
• 4-6 years of hands-on software testing and management experience with significant testing and/or automation experience or relevant certification
• Knowledge of System/Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and a clear understanding of the role of testing in the Testing Life Cycle including the practical knowledge of applying these methodologies to day-to-day operations and projects
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-focused, dynamic environment with minimal supervision
• Experience executing performance testing using Chubb standard tools
• Proven ability to scale testing approaches to meet demand
• Experience managing external source providers
• Experience with Help Desk and 2nd Level Support
