An entry-level position for people who aspire to become Claim Generalists Assoc. As a Trainee, the majority of time is spent completing training designed to prepare the person for claims handling.Upon successful completion of training, people function as Claim Generalists Assoc.

The Claim Generalist Assoc. position investigates, analyzes, and determines the extent of Progressive’s liability concerning loss or damages, and attempts to affect settlement with claimants.

• Corresponds with or interviews medical specialists, agents, police, witnesses, insureds or claimants to compile and analyze information.
• Calculates and executes payment of claims and resolution of claims without payments.

Duties and Responsibilities: 100%

• Participates in and completes ‘‘entry level’‘ training in preparation for becoming a Generalist Assoc. The training is delivered in a variety of formats including on-line courses, classroom based instruction, and through observation of Claim Generalist Assoc. performing the job.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 5 years of relevant
• work experience and/or postsecondary education.

• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to quickly build rapport and successfully effect settlements
• Excellent organization and problem-solving skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Effective team player
• Proficient in basic computer skills, including ability to utilize software programs in a Windows environment
• Able to type
• Ability to deal with conflict
• Ability to work in a highly structured environment.

As a Claim Representative, you may be required to work catastrophes (CATs) requiring travel and varied responsibilities for an extended period of time.
