Full-time Senior Underwriter / Administration Consultant

JOB SUMMARY:
 Supports the Underwriting Administrative function with delivering effective training and development plans and solutions which includes designing, developing and implementing predetermined, customized and adhoc programs and offerings for associates and customers.
 
Identifies learning objectives and updates existing or designs new curriculum based on business need, identified training needs, performance gaps and knowledge and skill of learner. Responsible for delivering training for selected learning opportunities for internal and external business partners, contracting and coordinating with subject matter experts to facilitate or identifying outside training programs or delivery methods.
 
Provides ongoing evaluation of existing and planned training programs and offerings by providing analysis, validation and impact against outlined objectives. Designs and evaluates tools and measurement methods, determines ROI and performance improvement metrics.
 
Responsible for all aspects of the Scottsdale School of Underwriting (SSU) program including selection and staffing, curriculum creation, review and edits, coaching and mentoring, classroom instruction and evaluation and administrative support.
 
Provides coaching and mentoring of SSU trainees, subject matter experts and learners. Manage enrollment and participation in learning opportunities. Act as the division representative for the Workforce Development Advisory Board and Career Liaison program. Supports UW leadership in other opportunities as identified. 

Performs other duties as assigned.

LOCATION: Scottsdale

RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Department Manager

DIRECT REPORTS: 0 Total number of employees that report directly and indirectly to this job

Education/Knowledge:
Undergraduate degree preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Completion of general insurance courses such as CPCU, CIC, AU, ARM, CPIW, CWIS, or ASLI is preferred.
Minimum of 5 to 7 years multi-line Underwriting or related experience, Excess/Surplus lines experience preferred.
Understanding of individual risk acceptability, pricing, coverage, terms and conditions related to analyzing and evaluation information and exposures on risks of a complex technical nature.
General understanding of policy forms and systems that support the underwriting function.
Understanding of instructional design/delivery or other related training and development experience preferred.
Ability to work with minimal direction / works independently
Creativity / original and value-added in brainstorming sessions to design effective & innovative solutions.
Strategic / sees ahead clearly, possess broad knowledge and perspective.
Good time management skills
Communication skills / strong presentation, verbal and written skills to communicate clearly and effectively in a variety of settings & styles
Comfortable providing coaching & feedback to others
Customer focused / dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal & external customers. Maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect
Directing others / is good at establishing clear directions

Working Conditions:
Normal office environment. Travel out of state as required several times a year. In-town entertaining required as necessary after 5:00 P.M.
